Tampa Prep basketball coach Joe Fenlon doesn't like playing freshman.

But with a talent like Juwan Durham, Fenlon couldn't help himself.

Durham started for the Terrapins this past season and led the team in scoring with 14 points per game, rebounds (nine per game) and blocks (2.5 per game). The 6-9 forward/center helped lead Tampa Prep, the defending Class 3A state champions, to the regional finals, where they lost to Florida Air Academy.

MaxPreps rewarded Durham's efforts with a selection on their Freshman All-American Team.

Durham made the national website's second team. MaxPreps selected Harry Giles, from North Carolina's Wesleyan Christian Academy, as the National Freshman of the Year.

Ranked as the top freshman in the state of Florida at the beginning of the season, Durham was the lone All-American selection from Florida.
