TAMPA, Fla. — For the first time in nine years, no Tampa Bay Buccaneers player was named to the initial Pro Bowl NFC roster, which was released on Tuesday night.

Wide receiver Mike Evans was named an alternate, and could end up playing in the game if injuries prevent another selection from participating.  Notable snubs include defensive linemen Jason Pierre-Paul, who has a team-high 11.5 sacks, and Gerald McCoy, who will see his streak of six straight Pro Bowl selections snapped.

Evans has already set a career-high in receiving yards in a single season through the first 14 games.  His 1,328 receiving yards are the 2nd-best total in the NFL, behind only Julio Jones.  Pierre-Paul's sack total is tied for 12th-best in the league.

The Bucs (5-9) were one of just three teams with no players named to the Pro Bowl rosters.  Buffalo (5-9) and Jon Gruden's Oakland Raiders (3-11) are the others.

The Pro Bowl will be played in Orlando for the third straight year.

Three Bay Area natives were named to the AFC's Pro Bowl roster: Lakeland natives and twins Maurkice (Steelers) and Mike (Chargers) Pouncey were the two centers, while Chargers rookie Derwin James (Haines City) earned the nod at safety.

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady earned his 14th Pro Bowl selection, tying the record held by QB Peyton Manning, DT Merlin Olsen and TE Tony Gonzalez.
