TAMPA — Jesuit sophomore Colin Kruger has a work ethic that is hard to beat.

Lacrosse head coach Charlie Cummins says Kruger’s dedication is rare.

"Champions aren’t made on game day, it's months, weeks, months, years of preparation, that’s exactly what Colin has done. He’s been playing the game at a very young age.”

For Colin, lacrosse has been a lifelong passion.

"It’s everything,” Kruger said. "Represent the school and have a good name for the lacrosse program and just the whole school.”

He fueled Jesuit’s postseason run. Colin scored 5 goals in the Tigers’ District Championship game, leading Jesuit to a come from behind win against Berkeley.

"Coming out of the second half, just talked to some of the kids on the team, I was like, 'I’m not going out like this. We’re not going out in districts.'”

He didn’t stop there.

The next week, Colin scored six goals in the regional semifinal.

"Colin being a young competitive athlete. Really testing our defenseman every single day.”

After an injury kept him off the field last year, Colin is making up for lost time.

"It was a tough shoulder injury. It wasn’t easy to come back from,” Cummins said. "I think he had to put that much extra effort into making sure not only does he come back healthy, but that he is 100% and he can show up like he has all season.”

Leading Jesuit in more ways than one.

"You can watch film, but there’s nothing like sitting right on the sidelines and watching a guy like Collin play. He’s a big physical kid. I think he has a very bright future," Cummins said.
