ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Tropical Depression 15 has formed near the coast of Africa.

Winds remain at 35 mph and the system is currently moving northwest at 10 mph. TD 15 is expected to strengthen Tuesday and may even become a tropical storm. If it does, it will be given the name Nestor.

The Cabo Verde Islands will need to monitor this system closely with heavy rains starting overnight and potential tropical storm warnings being issued soon.

While strengthening is possible in the short-term, the forecast has TD 15 already becoming a remnant low by Thursday getting nowhere near the United States.

There are no watches or warnings at this time.

Hurricane season runs through November 30.
