BRADENTON, Fla. — A 23-year-old Palmetto driver died after he lost control of his car and crashed into a storage container at a Bradenton tire store, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

At around 12:37 a.m., Alberto James Santiago was driving a 2018 Chevy Camaro going westbound on 44th Avenue East when he somehow went off the road and the front of the car struck a curb, described the FHP.

The car then drove on the sidewalk and hit a grass shoulder, where it entered a ditch, continued the FHP.

From there, the car collided into a chain link fence and then hit a storage container at Callaghan Tire on 1301 44th Avenue East, where it spun clockwise before coming to a rest, stated the FHP.

Santiago died at the scene and he did not wear his seatbelt, confirmed the FHP.

The FHP does not know if he was under the influence of alcohol.
