ORLANDO, Fla. — High temperatures Tuesday afternoon were back above average with most in the mid-80s.

A stationary front lingering nearby allowed for a few spotty showers and storms to develop throughout the afternoon. Some of these storms held heavy rain and frequent lightning.

This unsettled pattern is expected to stick around for the next few days before changes arrive by the weekend.

Mostly cloudy skies will stick around through the overnight hours. Temperatures will be warm and muggy, falling into the upper 60s to low 70s. While most will be dry as we head toward daybreak, a few coastal showers are possible.

Aside from a shower or two along the coast, our Wednesday morning will begin quiet with partly sunny skies. Temperatures will quickly climb back into the mid-80s for the afternoon with the humidity making it feel closer to 90 degrees.

Showers and storms will be possible again in the afternoon. Not a washout, but a passing downpour from time to time. Rain chances will back off slightly for Thursday, but temperatures remain warm.

An approaching front Friday will increase rain chances back up a bit to end the work week, but should clear out early Saturday. Behind this front, we’re expecting big changes for the weekend.

The clouds and rain will clear out and temperatures will fall into the mid to upper 70s both days. Highs will remain only around 80 degrees early next week.

Tropical Update

In the tropics, there are no systems to track at this time.

The hurricane season runs through November 30.

Beach and Surf Conditions

Poor to fair surfing conditions are in the cards Wednesday thanks to a local east-northeast windswell and wave heights of two to three, occasionally four feet. We are still expecting a moderate rip current threat for the rest of this week.

Sea surface temperatures are now in the mid-70s along the Flagler and Volusia County coasts, and in the lower 80s along the Brevard County coast.
