The NFL draft is just around the corner and for many college athletes their Pro Day is their once in a lifetime chance to prove they belong in the NFL.

One USF Bull has waited his entire career for the chance to chase his lifelong dream.

Senior USF defensive back Nate Godwin got that chance when the NFL came to the Bulls Pro Day last week.

“I feel like I came out and I had a point to prove so I think I out did my expectations by a long shot,” Godwin said.

On the football field, Godwin took advantage of every chance he got, playing in 50 games during his four year career, and earning a reputation as one of top tacklers on the team.

“I would be blessed to be part of any organization. I think production speaks for itself, so just happy for the opportunity,” he said.

Godwin said his biggest motivation for Pro Day was sitting at home and watching a combine he wasn’t invited too.

“The combine motivated me, it gave me a chip on my shoulder. You know that whole time sitting at home, I was just waiting for this day, to come out here and you know put my resume out there, show guys what I can do,” Godwin said.

On Pro Day, Godwin got to work out at home in front of his favorite NFL team, The Buccaneers, with head coach Dirk Koetter looking on.

“It would be a story, it would be a fairy tale to play high school, little league, college, I mean that would be a story to tell; so I would be grateful to play for the hometown team,” Godwin said.

If Godwin isn’t taken in the NFL draft, there is still a good chance that he can hook on with an NFL team as an undrafted free agent.
