Those who want to partake in a 360 flip, a slappy or a tweak can do it at the Best Shredder skateboard at the Brandon Skate Park on Wednesday.

  • Entry is Wednesday at 4 p.m. and it is free
  • Prizes will be offered
  • This contest is for ages 8 and older

Sponsored by the Hillsborough County government, the entry to this competition is free and the registration starts at 4 p.m., Wednesday, and the contest that has four categories starts at 5 p.m.

Those four categories are:

  • 8 and under
  • 9 — 12
  • 13 — 15
  • 16 and older

Out of the three skateboard tournaments that make up the Best Shredder contest, Wednesday's is the second one, which is usually the largest.

First, second and third place prizes, the naming of the Best Shredder in each division for overall series and skateboarding-related exhibits and venders will be offered.

The Hillsborough County government stressed that all contestants must follow the rules of the skate park, located at 5720 Providence Rd. in Riverview.

And while Wednesday is the first day of summer, it is also Go Skateboarding Day.
