15 was the most popular number at the ball park Friday night. Orange and blue the preferred colors. Never mind the fact that the home team is the red and white clad Florida Fire Frogs. It's Tebow mania, where Timmy is king.

In town to play a 4-game homestand with the Advanced A St Lucie Mets, Tebow addressed the media in the visitor’s dugout, joking about the amount of love he receives.

“I love Florida, its home for me and it’s special to play in front of a lot of Gator fans so that’s always nice. Makes away games just a little bit easier at times and that’s great,” said Tebow.

“And Gator nation really is everywhere.”

From football to baseball. From former Heisman winner, two time national champion and NFL quarterback, to minor league ball player.

“There was just an itch there, something that I wanted to do, and you know I love competing.”

Some critics ridiculed the 29-year old’s unexpected jump to the diamond. But Tebow and his fans could care less.

“For me it didn’t really matter what everybody was going to say, it was just what’s in my heart,” said Tebow. “ I just don’t want to be one of those people that when I’m 50 I look back and regret not going after different things that are on my heart.”

On a wet and humid Friday night at Osceola County Stadium Tebow struck out at his first two at bats. In his final opportunity, he hit a pop fly to the outfield. And yet, his fans cheered on.
