Women riding motorcycles is becoming a trend in the Tampa Bay area.

Every month, the same 100 women bikers take to the streets.

Saturday's trip took them from Ybor City, to I-75 South, then over the Skyway Bridge and into St. Petersburg.

The women do it because they love it.

"This is a sport. This is a passion," biker Amber Dimalanta said. "We all share that same passion."

Most think of men as motorcycle riders, but for these women, it's all about girl power.

"We're not the rough, tough neck or whatever. We're not smoking, beer drinking ladies," Dimalanta added. "We're women just enjoying a passion together."

The girls even have their own groups. The "Chrome Divas" and "Girl Riders" are just to name a few.

Lydia Rivera rode all the way from Ocala just to be a part of Saturday's ride. She's a nurse by trade, but a down-right biker diva at heart.

"It helps you raise your self-esteem. It also gives you an adrenaline rush," Rivera said. "And it makes you feel independent."

The women love the open road and they're wanting more women to tag along.

Saturday's ride was organized on Facebook.
