Family and friends will say their good-byes to a woman who was fatally stabbed while trying to deliver paperwork to a Dade City home.

Stephanie Ross, 25, was killed Monday while she was delivering insurance paperwork to Lucious Smith's home.  Ross worked for Integra Health Management as a service coordinator, which meant she helped arrange health care for people who needed it.

Deputies said Smith became angry and attacked Ross, chasing her down the street and stabbing her.

Ross' family spoke out for the first time on Thursday, issuing a statement in which they said they are, "shocked and deeply saddened by this tragedy. Stephanie was a loving person who was dedicated to working with others in need and had recently embarked on a career path that allowed her to do just that."

Her funeral will be held on Friday.

Smith has been charged with Ross' murder. He is being held without bond in the Pasco County Jail.  Officials said Smith has an extensive criminal history that dates back to 1981 and includes four stints in prison, including one for a conviction on aggravated assault with a weapon.
