A man accused of shooting another customer at a pizza place Sunday reportedly tried to use Florida's controversial "stand your ground" law to justify his actions.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, Michael Jock, 52, shot Randall White, 49, with a gun he had a concealed-weapons permit to carry.

The incident occurred about 4 p.m. inside the Little Caesars at 3463 Fourth St. N. after White got mad about his service.

Police said Jock, who was also waiting in line, scolded White for complaining. An exchange of words followed, and that turned into a shoving match.

When White raised a fist, Jock pulled out a .38 Taurus Ultralight Special Revolver, police told the Times.

Jock fired one round, hitting White in the lower torso. The men grappled and the gun fired again, hitting White in nearly the same place.

After the shooting, both men went outside and waited for police. Jock told arriving officers the shooting was justified under "stand your ground," the law that allows citizens to use deadly force under certain circumstances.

The officers didn't buy it. They arrested Jock on charges of aggravated battery with a weapon and shooting within a building. He was released from jail on $20,000 bail.

White was treated at Bayfront Medical Center and released. He told the Times he had gotten mad because his pizza had taken longer than the 10 minutes he was promised.
