There was extra security at Pinecrest Elementary School today after deputies say a parent volunteer threatened to blow up the school.

Deputies say Jessica Schauer she told parents at Pinecrest Elementary in Lithia not to bring their kids to school. When they asked which day - investigators say Schauer told them, “The day I blow it up.”

We talked to one of Schauer’s neighbors who were shocked to hear the allegations.

“I do hope that she didn’t really mean something like that but I’m glad that they took immediate action,” said neighbor, Angela Fitch.

Hillsborough school officials say they weren’t taking any chances, especially in light of the Connecticut shooting.

“Any day you shouldn’t make comments like that. Whether it’s a student or a parent or anybody else, you can’t make comments like that we will take it very seriously. This week is really sensitive given what happened in Connecticut last week,” said Steve Hagerty with Hillsborough County School district.

Schauer, 26, is charged with threatening to discharge a destructive device. She’s being held on a $100,000 bond.
