The public can get an inside look at the electric car movement this week in Bradenton.

The South Florida Museum is hosting a free screening of a film about electric cars.

In 2006, as many as 5,000 modern electric cars were destroyed by the major car companies that built them. Today, just six years later, the electric car is back with a vengeance.

That’s the tagline behind Revenge of the Electric Car, a film that tells the story of the global resurgence of electric cars by following the major car makers jumping to produce new electric models to be the first, and best, to win the hearts and minds of the public around the world.

The documentary premiered before a sold out audience in Sarasota in January and is now set to make its Bradenton debut with a free, single event screening at 7 p.m. Friday at the South Florida Museum, 201 10th St. W.

Beginning at 6 p.m., some of today’s most popular and exotic electric vehicles will be on display outside the museum where visitors can explore the latest innovations and chat with industry experts.
