The multi-agency search continues for a missing Tampa paddleboarder near Egmont Key.

Coast Guard officials said Sunday night they plan to continue searching for Jeffrey Comer, 50, of Tampa, at least until 12:30 a.m. Monday morning. Officials will make a decision whether or not to call off the search and continue in the morning, if they do call of the search, at that time.

According to Coast Guard officials, an unmanned paddleboard was adrift and recovered Saturday evening at the north entrance to the Manatee River by a boater around 11 p.m.

The boater gave the board to the Holmes Beach Police Department.

In the following investigation, officials determined the board belonged to Comer after finding his wallet, car keys and cell phone with the board. Using the information from the wallet, Tampa Police Department conducted a welfare check of the missing man's home and did not find him.

Tampa Police detectives said Comer was last seen by a friend around 2 p.m. at this home on Harbour Island, as Comer loaded his paddleboard into his vehicle. Comer's vehicle was found parked near Mullet Key in Ft. DeSoto Park. There was no sign of foul play with the vehicle.

Several agencies are actively searching for the paddleboarder around Egmont and Mullet Key.

Comer is a competition paddle boarder. He has no known medical problems and no history of mental illness.

He is described as a white male, 5-feet-8, 165 pounds, with blue eyes and a bald head.
