A woman has died after being found face down in water off a Fort Desoto Park beach Sunday.
Pinellas County Sheriff's officials identified the victim Sunday night as Michelle Dresser, 56, of Clearwater.
According to officials, Dresser was seen floating and paddling in shallow water around 11 a.m. She was swimming in the North Beach picnic area.
A lifeguard noticed Dresser floating face down and ran to help the woman. The victim was found unresponsive and the lifeguard began CPR.
Dresser was rushed to Bayfront Medical Center. She later died.
A medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the official cause death, but officials believe it was the result of drowning. No foul play is suspected.
