The 12-year-old daughter of a murdered Deland restaurant manager watched on TV as the man accused of killing her father barricaded himself in a Gibsonton home Thursday.

Kira Walsh told Bay News 9 she used to hang out with her father, Tom Walsh, while he worked at the Mainstreet Grill. Walsh’s father, originally from Ireland, stayed in America to be near his daughter.

The younger Walsh said once Deland Police officials said the suspect was a former employee of her father, she realized she had probably met him when she was younger.

The 12-year-old watched the tense standoff in Hillsborough County unfold on TV at her family's home in Deland.

The bodies of murder suspect James Seagraves, 29, and a female, Kayla Nemoto, 20, of Deltona, were found in a bathroom in the home.

“Emotions like happy, sad, angry and confused,” Walsh said following the standoff.

When the girl saw Seagraves’ face on TV, she instantly knew him. "I remember him (her father) telling me also that he was fired from the job," Walsh said.

Kira said Seagraves was fired from the Mainstreet Grill in DeLand about two years ago.

Meanwhile, the 12-year-old is still processing the idea that she knew her father's alleged killer.

“I was just shocked that it would be someone that I've heard of,” Walsh said.

Kira’s mother, Lisa Stinnett, said she met her ex-husband around 20 years ago and is trying her best to remain strong for her daughter.

“When we had found out that he had died, that he was found dead, inside the home, I felt angry because I would have liked to have seen him convicted and spend the rest of his life in prison,” Stinnett said.

Community support, including well wishes and fundraisers, has helped heal a small portion of their broken hearts.

“Until what happened, I never knew how many people cared,” Walsh said.

“It's all made a really, really horrible time just a little bit easier to bear,” Stinnett said.

DeLand City Commissioner Phil Martin owns the Mainstreet Grill.

He said everyone loved Tom and they're weren't going to rest until they arrested Tom's killer.
