A former Pinellas County teacher's aide has been arrested on charges of carrying on a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old disabled student.
Artia Patrice Davis, 31, of Clearwater is accused of unlawful sexual activity with a minor during a period that began last November. She was arrested Monday by Clearwater police, who said they found the alleged victim lying in her bed wearing nothing but his boxer shorts.
According to police, rumors surfaced that Davis, who was a teacher's aide at Hamilton Disston School in Gulfport, was having a relationship with the student. Pinellas County Schools and Child Protection Investigations investigated, and Davis resigned in March.
Davis worked at the school as an aide for the emotionally and behaviorally disabled students, which included the 16-year-old victim.
Davis was arrested and transported to the Pinellas County Jail. She was released Tuesday morning on bail.
