The man accused of killing a well-known local actor and teacher has plead guilty to the charge.

Thomas Lafoe, 60, faced a first-degree murder charge in the death of Jeffrey Norton.

Norton was found dead in his St. Petersburg home in July 2010. Police said someone struck Norton in the skull.

Officers said Lafoe confessed to the killing earlier, claiming he used a sword.

Norton's friends said the actor kept props from recent plays in his home. Norton was a theater teacher at Shorecrest Prepatory School in St. Petersburg.

Lafoe told the judge today that his crack cocaine led to his downfall.

He now faces life in prison without the possibility of parole.
