Two people were killed and four people were injured in a five-vehicle pileup on State Road 54 on Friday night.

Matthew Joseph Capelo-Fine, 16, of Trinity, and Anna Davis, 91, of Holiday, died as a result of the crash, which happened at 9:30 p.m., just west of State Road 589 in Odessa.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol crash report, Capelo-Fine was driving a 1997 BMW 328 east on State Road 54 when he lost control of his car, crossed over the grass media and crashed into a 2007 Hyundai Veracruz driven by Joseph F. Furphy, 71, of Trinity.

Capelo-Fine's car then spun clockwise and hit two more cars, causing one of those cars to crash into Furphy's car, investigators said.

Capelo-Fine died from his injuries at the scene of the crash.

Anna F. Furphy, 69, and Joseph Furphy were taken to Tampa General Hospital in serious condition. The Florida Highway Patrol original stated Anna Furphy died from her injuries, but later said Anna Davis was the female victim who passed away.

Two female passengers in Furphy's car were injured, as well. Collene Carberry, 13, and Jill Horaneck, 15, both of Holiday, sustained minor injuries and were treated at TGH.

Keisha Marie Squire, 22, of Holiday, also received minor injuries in the crash as she drove her 2005 Nissan Altima. She was treated at Trinity Medical Center.

The driver of a 2004 Chevy Impala, Jessica Lee Ann Cameron, 30, of New Port Richey, was not injured. The driver of a 2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser, Donald Kim Watrous, 43, of Port Richey, was not injured.

Part of State Road 54 was closed for several hours. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.
