A lot of homes are flooded in Pasco County but the flooding came as surprise to some residents in a New Port Richey neighborhood.

Bay News 9 spoke to several residents in the Mill Pond Estates Community off of State Road 54 Wednesday afternoon. The water was still flowing on Cypress Pond Court.

We're told the water was almost chest-deep on Tuesday. A few homes had some water damage.

Several residents told Bay News 9 when they bought their homes, they were told they didn't need flood insurance. The area sits in a "Zone A" flood zone however.

Even though there was little damage this time, residents aren't holding their breath their homes will be saved next time.

"They can't just say it’s okay because it’s built up," said Tony Rocha, a resident. "You have to have more sewers and drainage areas. It has to be a lot more thought out."

Bay News 9 walked around the neighborhood and didn't find many sewer drains. We found one in a cul-de-sac working overtime to get rid of the water.
