Days removed from the Republican National Convention, Tampa police have confiscated suspicious items found on the roof of a downtown building.

According to police, the owner of a building on the corner of Florida Avenue and Tyler Street found RNC-related graffiti, bricks and pipes on the roof of the building. Officers collected the items.

The graffiti was a spray-painted image of Guy Fawkes, similar to the character in the movie V for Vendetta. Occupy protesters have used his likeness with masks worn during protests.

The building isn't far from the newly renovated Floridan Palace Hotel, which will house some RNC attendees. It's about a mile from the Tampa Bay Times Forum, where the RNC will be held.

Police Chief Jane Castor was scheduled to discuss the findings at a news conference this afternoon.
