A tropical wave off Florida's eastern coast will move over the Bay area through Sunday, greatly increasing rain chances.

"It will come through later Saturday night and into Sunday," Bay News 9 Meteorologist Mike Clay said. The system will bring rain to the Bay area through Sunday and into Monday. It will not develop into a tropical system.

"This is going to get us locked into a typical summertime pattern for the next several days, which means numerous heavy late-day showers and storms," Bay News 9 Meteorologist Josh Linker said earlier Saturday.

The Bay News 9 weather team put the chances of rain at 80 percent Sunday. High temperatures could stay below 90 degrees.

Tropical Storms Ernesto, Florence no threat to Florida

Elsewhere in the Altantic, Tropical Storm Ernesto churned over open waters on a path toward Jamaica and Mexico that's expected to keep it away from Florida, and Tropical Storm Florence formed in the far eastern Atlantic. -- FORECAST
