The Pasco County Health Department's Immunization Program is urging parents to have their children immunized for the upcoming school year.

Parents can visit the Pasco County Health Department Immunization Clinics or their health care provider to have their children vaccinated.

"We are excited to partner with Pasco County Schools this year to provide required 7th grade vaccinations at local middle schools during back to school orientation." said Carol Cummins, MSN, ARNP, Executive Community Health Nursing Director. "7th graders must submit proof of Tdap (Tetanus-diptheria-acellular pertussis) vaccination by the start of school and we hope this will help get the school year off to a smooth start."

The vaccine is required for students to start classes.

This year, Tdap vaccination will be available free-of-charge at all Pasco County middle schools during secondary back-to-school orientation on August 14, 2012.

If you have any questions about this program, please call the Pasco County Health Department at 727-861-5260, ext. 268 or you may contact the District Supervisor of Health Services at 727-774-2360 or 813-794-2360.

Please note that the Health Department immunizations clinics will be closed on August 14th in order to provide 7th grade vaccinations at the middle schools.
