When President Obama campaigns in Florida this weekend, former Florida Gov. Charlie Crist will be with him.

In an interview after his speech at the 2012 Democratic National Convention on Thursday night, former Crist told Florida Decides that he plans to campaign with President Barack Obama during his trip to Florida this weekend.

During the one-on-one interview, Crist said current Florida Gov. Rick Scott's decision to turn down federal money for a proposed "bullet train" was "really unfortunate."

He added that he felt the Republican party he was a member of during most of his term as governor has drifted "pretty far to the right."

The president is making a two day swing through the state. He is scheduled to attend events in St. Petersburg and Kissimmee on Saturday.

The campaign confirmed a stop in Melbourne on Sunday, as well, but details have not been finalized.

Obama will take over the center of the Seminole campus of St. Petersburg College starting on Saturday morning. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. The event is free and open to the public, but tickets are required.

Obama will move on to the Kissimmee for another event following his stop in Seminole.

The campaign also announced President Bill Clinton will campaign in Florida next week, as well.
