Detectives have arrested the man who they said stole 166 manhole covers from a Poinciana community.

According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, Christopher Fink, 40,  was located this evening in Haines City.

He was taken into custody without incident, and is being interviewed by detectives.

Detectives said Fink is suspected of stealing the manhole covers from Village 7 sometime between Jan. 9 and Jan. 23, which is when the Toho Water Authority reported that the steel covers missing.

The covers were taken from Lake Marion Creek Road, as well as several side streets, including Cedar, Dogwood and Bayberry, the report said.

Investigators said they learned Fink stole the covers, then tried to scrap them at second-hand metal dealers.  The estimated value of the covers was put at over $22,000.

Fink is being charged by warrant with grand theft, dealing in stolen property and giving false verification to a secondhand metal dealer.  More charges are pending.
