The investigation into the murder of a young Clearwater man is intensifying not only through the police investigation, but electronic billboards and social media, as well.

Officials say Jason Paul, 22, was riding his bike home from work earlier this month on Glenwood Avenue South along Crescent Lake Park when all of a sudden, officials say he was attacked and stabbed.

They will not say how many times he was stabbed but will say that he suffered severe upper body trauma. Paul was found lying in the middle of the street.

Now, residents who live in the Skycrest neighborhood where the murder took place are concerned for their own safety.  They met with Clearwater police Tuesday night to voice their concerns about crimes and their safety and especially Crest Lake Park, in light of the murder.

"I get up in the middle of the night a lot and I always look out my windows," said Jane Love, who has lived in Clearwater for more than 40 years.  "No, I don't walk in the park anymore just because of that."

With neighbors frightened, police are working the case harder than ever even though they have little to go on.  So far, they say, they have no witnesses, no motive, and no suspect.

But days after Paul’s murder, they went door to door with Paul’s parents and handed out flyers while asking neighbors for anything that could point them in the killer’s direction.

"We're following up every available investigate lead and we won't stop investigating this case until we bring it to a successful resolution," said Major Daniel Slaughter of the Clearwater Police Department when asked Tuesday night about the progress of the investigation.

One of the tools that could help them are seven electronic billboards that police hope will get the message out to as many people as possible.

Meantime on social media, Paul’s friends have started a Facebook page.  So far, nearly 250 people are standing behind efforts to find Paul’s killer.

On that page, Paul’s mother, Renee' Paul Langfritz, shared fond memories of her only son.

"Anyone who has any info please don't be afraid to come forward,” Langfritz said.  “....(My son) was kind, loving, had a fabulous sense of humor..., loved his family and girlfriend, and friends, his best friend was Marley his loving dog.... he was a talented young man reaching for the stars......”

Then Langfritz had a message to the killer.  “I will never stop looking for you!!!!!   Never that I promise.”

"Hopefully that it would, bring them closure,” said Jane Love, a neighbor who does not know the family but says she is praying for them.  “It doesn't make the pain go away but at least they know what happened."

If you have any information, you are urged to call Clearwater Police.

The family is offering up to a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction of whoever is responsible for Paul’s murder.
