The 13th tropical depression of the year is now Tropical Storm Lorenzo.

The storm, which is in the open Atlantic Ocean, will not impact land, according to Chief Meteorologist Mike Clay.

The storm is moving to the north-northeast at 7 mph with maximum sustained winds of up to 40 mph.

Earlier on Monday, Meteorologist Josh Linker said the storm is expected to drift to the northeast before dissipating.

"The depression will head even further out to sea and only last a few days," Linker said. "It will have a brief opportunity to strengthen and then a front in the central Atlantic will merge with it and rip it apart."
