The Coast Guard unloaded $23 million in seized cocaine Tuesday in St. Petersburg.

According to officials, the Coast Guard Cutter Venturous aided in the seizure of the drugs in support of operation Caribbean Guard.

On Oct. 11, crewmen at Coast Guard Sector San Juan received a report from a airplane patrol crew of a suspicious 35-foot go-fast vessel south of the Dominican Republic.

The Coast Guard Cutter Venturous responded and found the crew aboard the vessel jettisoning packages over board.

The crew of the Venturous recovered 28 bales which later tested positive for about 1,500 pounds of cocaine.
