A scooter rider suffered a life-threatening head injury in a crash that also involved two pedestrians early Sunday, police said.

Nathan Circle, 32, of St. Petersburg was riding east on Central Avenue around 3 a.m. when two pedestrians started to cross in the 600 block. One stopped halfway, but the other, 22-year-old Lacey Fraze, continued.

That caused the scooter to swerve, and it struck Fraze as it went down. Circle, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected and hit his head on the pavement, police said.

Circle was taken to Bayfront Medical Center. Fraze suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
