One of the latest home building projects in Lakewood Ranch will create over 1,200 upscale homes in a community that has seen a lot of development lately.

Sandy and Martha Edinger are one of hundreds that decided to build their new home in Country Club East. They said the golf village community has a lot of appeal.

“You have a beautiful lake out front. Out back you have three golf courses to play here. We are close to Sarasota were close to the Bradenton. Its just a perfect place for us,” said Sandy.

While the entire community won’t be finished for about six or seven years there are already 395 families living there and 114 homes are under construction.

“I would like to see it grow I would like to see a good diversity of age groups I'd love to see some families with children,” said Martha.

At the village community, the builders are putting up homes as they sell lots. Country Club East said they sell about 100 lots a year, equaling 1264 homes on the property.

Martha believes the development will be a big boost for the local economy.

“It will help local retailers, restaurants, and your basic select grocery stores and to those people will need medical services so I believe it will be a boom to the economy here,” said Martha.

A boom that will hopefully bring more jobs, businesses and ideas to the area.
