A 74-year-old man was killed Thursday morning trying to cross a Tampa street.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, Ronald Stump was killed just before 9:30 a.m. when he was struck by a car on Bruce B. Downs Blvd. just south of 131st Street, near the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital.
Deputies said Stump was hit by a 2006 Nissan Sentra driven by Ebony Woods, who was driving in northbound inside lane.
Stump, of St. Petersburg, was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
