Twenty-three-year-old Jennifer Kalb had dimples and a smile that would light up a room.

Her boyfriend, Scott Gearen, will never forget it.

"She touched a lot of people's lives," Gearen said. "There's not a person who met her who didn't like her. She's so loved. Beautiful."

Gearen said the last time he saw his girlfriend she was leaving their apartment with Lindsay Greene and Charles Martinez. Greene, Martinez and Kalb were on their way to a Brandon pub to play pool. Gearen became worried when Kalb never came home.

Kalb's family filed a missing person's report.

On Facebook, a message went out to her friends. But after news broke about a double murder and fire cover-up in Brandon, Scott knew his girlfriend was one of the victims.

Now, the medical examiner confirmed it.

"It's been rough," Gearen said. "It's been really rough. I just don't understand why this happens to people so good, so pure."

Nearly a month later and there have been no arrests in the case.

Charles Martinez has been questioned, but not charged.

It's frustrating for those who knew Kalb, but investigators call it a complicated case that requires a lot of forensic testing.

That takes time.

Wearing Kalb's necklace around his neck, Gearen waits. Meanwhile, he's working with her family to plan a celebration to remember Jennifer's loving spirit.

"That's the way that she would have wanted it," Gearen said. "She wouldn't want us to mourn her. She would want us to celebrate her and celebrate who she was. She loved life so we should celebrate her life."
