The rapper who was the inspiration for James Franco's character in the movie Spring Breakers was one of three men arrested on drug charges in Pinellas Park on Friday.

Russell Allen Curry, 27, who goes by the street name "Dangeruss," was arrested on charges of marijuana sale and possession. Corey Devonshire, 28, and Jimmy Jones, 42, were also arrested on various drug charges.

Police said they began investigating the men after they received information that several people who lived at Lauren Manor Apartments on 35th Street N were selling narcotics "with a great deal of frequency."

More arrests are expected as the investigation continues.

James Franco played Alien, a rapper and drug dealer inspired by Curry, in the movie Spring Breakers, which was filmed in the Tampa Bay area. Curry also made a cameo appearance in the movie.

"The arrest of Curry is another example that the fantasy portrayed by the movie industry is an exaggeration as Curry is just another low level drug dealer," police said in the news release about the arrest. "Curry is not a role model that anyone should be looking up to."
