Some dedicated surfers didn't let the wintry weather stop from them catching some waves on Lake Michigan.

They say the cold water actually adds more excitement to the sport. Special gear helps keep them warm.

"Our eyelashes can freeze and our feet get cold, but overall, I'm probably almost just as warm as you are right now," one surfer said.

The water temperatures in Lake Michigan are about 45 degrees. That's a lot warmer than the 18 degree temperatures on the shore.

Meanwhile, a fast-moving storm is expected to drop a foot of snow or more in the Northeast over the weekend. The National Weather Service has said 6 to 12 inches of snow are expected in New England, with as much as 14 inches possible along the Maine coast.
