The proposal to build a new stadium for the Tampa Bay Rays in the Carillon area of St. Petersburg may not be completely dead.

According to Bay News 9's partner newspaper the Tampa Bay Times, the team is willing to look at proposals to build a stadium in the Carillon business park area - with one condition.

In exchange for giving the Carillon project another strong look, team leaders also want the go-ahead to look at locations in Hillsborough County.

Rays President Matt Silverman said the team would agree to further explore the Carillon location for the right to expand their search

Late Thursday, St. Petersburg Mayor Bill Foster said he did not know about Silverman's pitch or any further plans from the Rays.

The move follows meetings team officials, including Rays owner Stu Sternberg, had with county commissioners in Hillsborough and Pinellas counties in recent weeks.
