Charges have been dropped against a Manatee County man accused of growing marijuana plants at home.

In February, deputies raided Robert and Cathy Jordan's Parrish home and confiscated 23 marijuana plants from their backyard.

Jordan said they were growing marijuana to help his wife, who uses it as a treatment for Lou Gehrig's disease.

On Tuesday, Jordan learned the state attorney's office dropped all charges against him.

The couple is currently in Tallahassee lobbying for the legalization of medical marijuana in Florida.

An bill named for Cathy Jordan has been filed with state lawmakers.  If passed, Florida would become the 19th state to legalize marijuana for medical reasons.
