Fewer voting sites available for Manatee June 18 election

Manatee County residents will have fewer voting options for the next election.

On June 18, a half-cent sales tax hike is on the ballot. If approved, the tax hike would be used to fund health care for the poor.

There will only be one early-voting site for the election, and on the day itself, there were will be seven fewer sites for voting.

Officials said the reduced number of voting sites is due to the fact that some churches were unavailable because of summer programs.
