The Clearwater Civil Air Patrol hopes to move into its new headquarters this month.

Cadets and volunteers are working on the Clearwater Composite Squadron. It's a far cry from what it looked like a few months ago.

Capt. Yvonne Rodriguez volunteers her time as the squadron's commander. Her previous office had a collapsed ceiling and smelled of mold, and the building was condemned.

Thanks to community support and donations from St. Petersburg College, there's a new administrative building.

"It says that what our organization stands for is important to this community," Rodriguez said.

The cadets still need additional flooring, decking and fire extinguishers before they can use the space.
