It has been almost eight years since lottery winner Jeffrey Dampier’s killer was sentenced to life in prison.

Now the series "Blood Relatives” on Investigation Discovery is bringing it back to life in a television episode.

The series reenacted Dampier’s unfortunate story. He was an Illinois man who hit a $20-million jackpot, moved his family to Tampa, and opened up a popcorn shop in Channelside.

As the episode tells viewers, there was so much more people didn’t see. Dampier was gunned down by Victoria Jackson, his sister-in-law and the much younger woman he reportedly had an affair with.

Jackson was sentenced to three life sentences shortly after being convicted of killing Dampier.

The prosecutor laid out the case, saying it was all about money and greed -  a story made for television.

The episode features interviews with Crystal Dampier, Jeffrey’s wife.

“It’s still a healing process, it never goes away, and you learn to live with it,” Crystal Dampier told Investigation Discovery during the episode.

Producers also spoke to his daughter, friends, investigators who worked diligently on the case, and reporters from the Tampa Bay area, including Tampa Bay Times' Ernest Hooper, who was chief of the East Hillsborough Bureau at the time.

“Here’s someone who won the lottery and his life ended so tragically, and to make matters even worse it was people in his own family,” he said.

The episode of “Blood Relatives," titled “Let’s Slay Together,” airs May 3 at 9 p.m. on Investigation Discovery.
