Deputies are investigating an apparent murder-suicide involving a couple in their 80s in Sugarmill Woods.
According to reports, deputies responded to a house on Pine Street at 9 p.m. Wednesday.
When they arrived, they found the bodies of Rose and Ernest Geisert on the bathroom floor with apparent gunshot wounds, deputies said. Deputies then found a firearm under Ernest Geisert's body.
Investigators said a friend who was inside the house to help Rose Geisert, who had fallen earlier, heard muffled bangs. She said she thought Geisert has possibly fallen again, so she went into the bathroom to check on the couple. She found them on the bathroom floor in a large pool of blood, deputies said.
The friend ran to a neighbor's house to call 911.
The investigation continues.
