The KinderCare Learning Center in Largo is now on probation after investigators say workers closed for the night with an 11-month-old still in a crib.

The Pinellas County Licensing Board put the East Bay Drive facility on a six-month probation after last month's incident, according to Bay News 9's coverage partner, the Tampa Bay Times.

When the boy's father arrived 30 minutes after business hours to get the child, the door was locked and the building was empty.

After calling the center's supervisor, they safely retrieved the boy.

The center's employees apparently did not do a sweep of the building or report the incident until the following Monday.

No criminal charges were filed, but workers involved in the incident were fired.

The Board normally inspects day cares every six months.

They will inspect this KinderCare monthly during the probation.

The chain daycare has 1,700 centers across the country.
