Estrogen may help prevent urinary tract infections in women past menopause.

According to the journal Science Translational Medicine, the hormone helps trigger the body's natural proteins in the bladder.

Currently the FDA advises menopausal women to use hormones for the shortest time and at the lowest dose possible.

Health Day News says one in four stroke survivors will develop symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

The psychological challenges affect nearly 300,000 stroke survivors.

The publication says of those, 23 percent, will develop PTSD symptoms.

For 11 percent of those, the condition will become chronic.

Also, the HPV vaccine is reducing the number infections in girls under the age of 18 in the United States.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says, after the vaccine was introduced in 2006, there was a 56 percent decrease in the rate of teen girls infected with the Human Papiloma Virus.

HPV is the most common sexually transmitted disease and it can cause cervical cancer.

The vaccine is also given to boys, although infection rates have not yet been published.
