A popular Clearwater beach hotel is expanding, but with construction underway, some are concerned about a large crane hanging close to a busy road.

Shepard’s restaurant has permits and is not breaking any city laws or ordinances but a few residents have some concerns

"Why is this thing suspended while during the day with those heavy slabs as you see at that end and you can see they are just being held there and they could just fall right through that space period," said John Sakoutis.

"I think it would be one thing if they had something hanging from the crane itself but I think having just the metal girder or whatever it is up there, I’m not too concerned about it no," said Mike Twining.

Shepard’s website says their expansion will provide 90 more rooms, additional parking and a larger pool.
