The Largo man originally accused of plotting to kidnap and kill children and then eat their remains has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.

The most serious charges were later dropped against Ronald Brown, who turned down a plea deal last year that would have sent him to prison for six years.

Brown, 57, was arrested last year after Homeland Security agents found online chats on his computer. Investigators said Brown talked online about wanting to kidnap and kill a child and then eat the remains. Authorities said Brown was even focusing his efforts on a boy from his church.

When agents with Homeland Security Investigations raided Brown's home at Whispering Pines Mobile Home Park in Largo, they say they found explicit chats and child porn images - including sexualized images of children.

The most serious charge, conspiracy to kidnap children, were dropped, but Brown did not take a plea deal.

Brown was a volunteer in the church's youth ministry, performing for children with his puppets. He had also been a puppeteer on a Christian Television Network show for kids called Joy Junction.

The man Brown was chatting with online, Michael Arnett of Kansas, is now serving 30 years in federal prison.
