A former Polk County pastor has been found guilty of fraud.
According to partner newspaper the Ledger, a jury spent an hour deliberating Wednesday afternoon before convicting Joe Hardie.
The 68-year-old former pastor of New Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church was found guilty of scheme to defraud, grand theft of more than $100,000, money laundering more than $20,000, and two counts of money laundering more than $300.
He was acquitted on one count of grand theft of more than $20,000.
According to an affidavit, Hardie took money from the church for his personal from 2007 to 2009.
Hardie will be sentenced Oct. 3.
