A fundraiser will be held Saturday for the family of a Lakeland girl whose mother said she committed suicide earlier this week.
The body of Rebecca Ann Sedwick, 12, was found early Tuesday morning, the day after she was reported missing by her mother.
Her mother, Tricia Norman, said her daughter had been bullied by former classmates who persisted even after she changed schools.
The fundraiser is being sponsored by the Brandon Cowboys youth cheerleading and football organization. The group said they hope the money will help pay for funeral expenses.
The fundraiser is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will be held at Tadpole's, located at 115 E. Brandon Blvd. in Brandon.
