Tampa Police say they arrested former football star Donald Caldwell, Jr. and seven others during an illegal gambling operation bust.

"Reche" Caldwell played for Jefferson High School, University of Florida, the New England Patriots, the Washington Redskins, and the San Diego Chargers.

Officers say the bust occurred Sunday in the 1700 block of West Main Street.

The other suspects are Bobby Eugene Richardson, Kenlun Dawson, Rico Deangelo Longstreet, Bernard Rogers, Troyanoski Jones, Allen Rhodes, and Dennis Robinson.

Caldwell, Richardson and Dawson were charged with running an illegal gambling house and bookmaking.

Five other suspects were charged with various crimes, including illegal gambling, possession of a controlled substance and violation of probation.

Police say they seized cash, two handguns and approximately one gram of MDMA during the bust.

Caldwell was held in the Orient Road Jail and released early Monday on $4,000 bail.

He is the older brother of Andre Caldwell, who is a wide receiver for the Denver Broncos.
