Publix may run a little short on Crisco this week.

Thieves in St. Petersburg on Sunday somehow made off with a tractor-trailer loaded with 36,000 pounds of Crisco shortening sticks that were supposed to be delivered to the Publix distribution center in Lakeland.

Which, of course begs the question: What are the thieves going to do with their take?

The stolen tractor is a 2005 red Volvo with Florida tag 52393P and had the name of "NS Express LLC, Bowling Green, KY 42104" on both sides of the cab. The trailer is a white Hyundai with Florida tag 4450PP.

The tractor-trailer had been parked at Coastal Towing, 2390 118th Avenue N.

According to St. Petersburg police, thieves entered a second trailer that contained boxes from the Amazon distribution center in Ruskin. Several boxes were opened and their contents taken, but an inventory of the items missing hasn't been completed.
