Lawyers defending Curtis Reeves will be able to enter the movie theater where Chad Oulsen was shot and killed earlier this year.

Deputies say Reeves, a 71-year-old retired Tampa police captain, shot Oulson, 43, during an argument over texting while the previews were playing for "Lone Survivor." Oulson's wife, Nicole, was shot in the hand.

The incident took place in Auditorium 10 of the Cobb Grove 16 theatre in Wesley Chapel in January of 2014. The judge in the case says Reeves' defense team can go inside the theater to look at it, and re-create the lighting conditions from the day the shooting happened.

Reeves shot Oulsen while the previews were playing so the lights were dim but not off. Lawyers will also be able to obtain a map and other documents from the theater.

"We want to make it as clear as possible for this jury, we want this jury to feel and see what actually happened. So they can make the right decision,” said attorney Richard Escobar.

A pre-trial hearing is scheduled for November 19 at 2 p.m.
